Synopsis

On the top of the Cuilcagh mountain, at night, mysterious lights appear. The lights fly towards the entrance to the megalithic tomb.

Cuilcagh is an experimental animation and video installation that blends elements of mythology and folklore with contemporary digital imagery. The visual narrative is tightly woven with atmospheric ambient and electronic music, guiding the viewer into a deep, meditative state. The project explores the mystical connection between ancient sacred landscapes, historical remnants, and the unknown subconscious.

About the Film

Inspired by the raw landscape and megalithic heritage of the Cuilcagh mountain region, this short piece operates at the intersection of animation, music video, and site-specific video art. Featuring a haunting soundscape by ambient project Ager Sonus, Cuilcagh stands out as a concise yet powerfully atmospheric work within Konik Studio’s filmography. Beyond festival screens, the film was presented in a spatial format as part of the Konik Studio Timeline exhibition at the National Museum in Szczecin (Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie).

Cuilcagh to hipnotyzująca animacja i instalacja wideo z 2021 roku, stworzona przez Konik Studio. Na szczycie góry Cuilcagh nocą pojawiają się tajemnicze światła, które zmierzają w kierunku wejścia do megalitycznego grobowca.

Film w unikalny sposób łączy w sobie elementy mitologii i lokalnego folkloru z elektroniką i ambientową muzyką projektu Ager Sonus. Projekt funkcjonuje na pograniczu filmu eksperymentalnego, teledysku oraz sztuki wideo. Praca była prezentowana m.in. w formie przestrzennej jako część wystawy Konik Studio Timeline w Muzeum Narodowym w Szczecinie.
