Synopsis
„The Flying Monastery” is a painterly impression inspired by Caspar David Friedrich’s works. Mysterious spirits rise above the ruins of Eldena Abbey, driven by an enigmatic force. The ancient monastery follows them on a journey from the sea to the mountains.
The short animated piece explores the romantic concepts of landscape, sublime nature, and mysticism. By bringing Friedrich’s famous imagery into motion, the film connects historical cultural heritage with modern digital painting and video art.

The film was created as part of the project „TYDZIEŃ FRIEDRICHOWSKI: Caspar David Friedrich – romantyk z Pomorza” (Friedrich Week: Caspar David Friedrich – Romantic from Pomerania).
The project was co-financed by the Department for Culture of Pomerania and Eastern Brandenburg (Kulturreferat für Pommern und Ostbrandenburg) from the funds of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien).

„Latający klasztor” to malarska impresja filmowa inspirowana twórczością Caspara Davida Friedricha, a w szczególności obrazem „Ruiny Eldeny w Karkonoszach”. Tajemnicze duchy unoszą się nad ruinami opactwa Eldena, gnane przez zagadkową siłę. Prastary klasztor podąża za nimi w niezwykłą podróż od morza aż do gór.
Film powstał w ramach projektu „TYDZIEŃ FRIEDRICHOWSKI: Caspar David Friedrich – romantyk z Pomorza”. Projekt współfinansowany przez Referat ds. Kultury Pomorza i Brandenburgii Wschodniej (Kulturreferat für Pommern und Ostbrandenburg) ze środków Pełnomocniczki Rządu Federalnego ds. Kultury i Mediów (Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien).
